The pros:  Trader Joe’s Belgian Waffles are extremely light, airy, tasty like a crepe waffle.

The cons:  Only 4 in a box which is half of what you get with other Trader Joe’s waffles. Each waffle is also very tall.

The verdict:

These waffles are unlike any other of the waffles I’ve tried at Trader Joe’s. Clearly here there are difference that go beyond the appearance of a larger thicker waffle. This is a totally different batter than what you would find in Trader Joe’s Gluten Free Waffles, Trader Joe’s MultiGrain Waffles or any of the other flavored waffles available.

For $1.99, this won’t go on my weekly shopping list, but it was good. I really enjoyed the waffle that was presented here. It was light as a feather. It came out of the toaster oven crisp. It would make a really great dessert waffle. As a breakfast waffle however, you’ll probably be hungry before lunch and need a snack. My final thoughts are below the picture.

Would I buy this again? For dessert purposes yes, absolutely. This would be a wonderful, crispy, light as a feather compliment to ice cream, fruit, whipped cream, even possibly fried chicken. As a breakfast item, I’d say skip it. Since it is so light and airy you won’t feel full or you’ll have to eat most of the box to feel full. Better choices for breakfast are the regular varieties of waffle: Chocolate Chip Waffles, Blueberry Waffles, Mango Waffles, or even Pumpkin Waffles.

Frequently Asked Questions About trader joe’s belgian waffles cooking instructions

If you have questions that need to be answered about the topic trader joe’s belgian waffles cooking instructions, then this section may help you solve it.

How long cook frozen Belgian waffles?

Frozen Waffles For a larger batch of waffles, lightly coat a baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray and preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Transfer frozen waffles to the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes, or until warmed through and crisped

What setting do you put a Belgian waffle maker on?

We recommend setting #4 for Belgian waffle recipes. If you prefer crisper, darker Belgian waffles, increase the browning control. For evenly filled waffles, pour the batter into the center of the lower grid and spread out evenly to the edges.

How much are Trader Joe’s Belgian waffles?

$1.99

What is the difference between a Belgian waffle and a regular waffle?

Belgian waffles are usually thicker than their American counterparts. These Belgian beauties are made with a recipe that includes yeasted batter and crunchy pearl sugar. Belgian waffles have extra-deep pockets?the better for filling with butter, jam, maple syrup, or whipped cream.

How do you know when a Belgian waffle is done?

If your waffle maker doesn’t have a doneness indicator, watch the steam coming out of the unit as you cook. Once the steam stops (usually after 5 to 6 minutes), the waffle should be done. If the lid resists when attempting to lift it, cook the waffle for 30 seconds longer.

How long do you put Belgian waffles in the oven?

Preheat the oven to 350 F degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the waffles on the baking sheet. Bake for about 10 to 15 minutes or until heated through.

Should I spray my Belgian waffle maker?

If your waffle iron or pan has a nonstick surface, you should not use cooking spray. Cooking spray builds up on nonstick surfaces and eventually becomes tacky?rendering the non-stick coating useless. Brush oil lightly over the surface of your pan instead: if the spray build-up hasn’t ruined the pan, this should work.

How long do you cook a Belgian waffle in a waffle maker?

Add to dry ingredients and mix well. Fold in egg whites. Cook in waffle iron on medium-high heat for around 5-10 minutes.

Can you microwave Trader Joe’s waffles?

No microwave allowed on Trader Joe’s Blueberry Waffles.

Why are Belgium waffles so popular?

Belgian waffles are beloved for their extra-deep pockets?the better for filling with butter, jam, or maple syrup. They are often thicker than their American counterparts, and made with a yeasted batter and crunchy pearl sugar. There’s nothing quite like a classic Belgian waffle.

Why do Belgian waffles need to be flipped?

The most simple answer is: they will cook faster. Once you pour batter on the iron the bottom will start to cook and spread. By flipping the iron, the batter flows to the bottom, again allowing direct contact, thus faster heating.

Why arent my Belgian waffles crispy?

Make Sure Your Waffle Iron Is Hot

You should actually hear the batter sizzle on contact. The outer crust will immediately begin to set and crisp. Moisture in the batter quickly turns to steam and evaporates out the sides of the pan. If the iron isn’t hot, none of this happens and the waffles will be soggy and squishy.

What to serve with Belgian waffles?

Tips on How to Serve Belgian Waffles

Serve hot Belgian waffles with whipped cream, berries, and pure maple syrup. Sometimes we like to add our special brown butter buttermilk syrup. It is such a treat! Keep the waffles warm by putting them on a baking sheet in 200 degrees Fahrenheit oven until ready to serve.

Can you use PAM on a Belgian waffle maker?

Cooking spray should not be used on a waffle maker with a non-stick coating since the spray will leave a residue on the cooking plates.

Do you eat Belgian waffles hot or cold?

At its most basic, a Belgian waffle is a light and crispy type of sweet cake, made of batter or dough that can be eaten hot or cold. A waffle is cooked in a waffle iron to give it a characteristic ‘holey’ look and is often served with a dusting of sugar, or topped with indulgent cream, fresh fruit or chocolate sauce.

Are Belgian waffles healthier than pancakes?

The amount of Selenium, Iron, Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, Polyunsaturated fat, and Monounsaturated Fat in Waffle is higher than in Pancake. Waffle covers your daily Selenium needs 57% more than Pancake. Pancake contains less Saturated Fat.
