Workhorse Fryer
Review by Jim C. on 29 Nov 2021 review stating Workhorse Fryer
If you are doing a small turkey, like under 10 lbs, the fill line can be troubling. It will not cover the turkey. I filled about an inch above the fill line with peanut oil and it worked fine and no bubbling over.. The most annoying thing about the cooker is the timer. If you don’t pay attention to it, it will shut down the fryer every 15 mins. I used another clock set at 13 mins to remind me to turn the timer all the way on again!
Great fryer!
Review by Michelle on 28 Nov 2021 review stating Great fryer!
Used it twice this Thanksgiving and plan to use it again around Christmas. The base is really sturdy and it’s easy to use and set up. The whole kit is great. I only wish I could remove or not have to use the timer. Only reason minus one star. Could be user error I havnted looked into it. Other than that it’s great

The turkey should weigh no more than 12 pounds, or you can fry individual parts like the breasts, wings, or legs instead.
Does a 30 qt fryer have room for a 20 lb turkey?

When I fry a turkey, can I use the same peanut oil?

Injecting turkey is a technique that flavors the meat from the inside, tenderizing it while gradually spreading the flavors throughout the bird. Injection marinades can be used with traditional turkey marinades, turkey rubs, and even turkey brines.
Which oil is better for frying a turkey: canola or peanut?
The recommended oil temperature for frying is 375°F; once you submerge the turkey, the oil temperature will drop. Canola oil is advised due to its high smoke point and low allergy concerns.

Remember to use injection marinades several hours before you start cooking. Butter Based Injection This is a great injection for any kind of poultry. What can I flavor my turkey with?
While you’re at it, season the cavity with a good amount of salt and pepper. Brining is an essential step to ensure a juicy bird. Fresh herbs like thyme, rosemary, and sage along with a half lemon go a long way to add flavor, and stuffing it into the bird takes almost no time at all.

Apples: When stuffing your turkey, think about chopping up one or two apples into quarters. Apples have a fall flavor and will also add a little extra moisture to the bird while it cooks (though you can still brine the bird, of course).
Do I need to add butter to my turkey?
No one wants to eat dry turkey, so while you can still produce a delicious bird without the use of butter, I highly recommend adding it! It will help add moisture and flavor to the meat during the roasting process. Since turkey is a lean protein, it is easier to overcook or dry out due to the lower fat content.
Which seasonings go well with turkey?
This spice blend is primarily savory, with just a hint of brown sugar to offset the salt, herbs, and spices. Turkey pairs well with a lot of sweet and savory flavors, such as brown sugar, maple, chives, thyme, rosemary, parsley, sage, basil, paprika, pepper, garlic, onion, lemon, and oregano.
How do you make a moist turkey?
2 cups of hot water, 1/2 cup kosher salt, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 2 cups of apple juice, and 4 cups of ice are mixed together. The turkey is then immersed in the brine for 2 or more hours in the refrigerator, preferably 10 hours for the best flavor and tenderness.
Should I cook my turkey with butter or oil?
Rub the skin with fat. Oil will produce a crispier skin than butter because butter contains no water, while oil does not. After carefully drying off the skin, the next step you can take to ensure perfectly crispy turkey skin is to rub it with a fat, like butter or oil.
Do Butterball turkeys surpass regular turkeys in quality?
Here are some reasons why Butterball turkeys are the best option, especially during the holiday season: Butterball turkeys are always tender and juicy because we go the extra step of individually pre-brining them based on size.
Do I need to add butter to my turkey?
Instead of basting, rub fat (butter, olive oil, or coconut oil, for example) all over the bird just before you tuck it into the oven. Some people swear by basting, but every time you open the oven door to baste, you let the heat out and basting also gives you a less crisp skin.
Are fresh turkeys more flavorful than frozen ones?
Fresh turkeys, with their more natural diet, can have a slightly gamey taste and a tougher texture, but they also retain more moisture, which means more flavor. Fresh turkeys can taste different from frozen because of how the birds are raised and what they are fed.
